Carrying a legacy into the future
The Foundation for Concrete Art and Design collects significant works and estates of artists in the fields of concrete art and design. Parts of its collection are exhibited at the MKKD. At the same time, other institutions worldwide can borrow works.
The foundation’s goal and mission are not merely to own outstanding and diverse works and thereby reflecting the development of an art movement. Rather, it is entrusted with the preservation, research, and dissemination of relevant artworks, as well as their contextualization considering ever-changing questions. Against the backdrop of current social developments, this contextualization constantly yields new perspectives on this cultural heritage. The history of Concrete Art thus never is fully told. For over 100 years, the art movement has continually reinvented itself, remaining exciting and relevant.
Ingeborg König is the widow of the late artist Ludwig Wilding and also the co-founder of the Foundation. Here, she is pictured with the mayor of Ingolstadt, Dr. Michael Kern.
With a diverse program of exhibitions and events, including its own holiday (the "Day of Concrete Art") the foundation invites you to discover and experience its treasures. Together with artists, collectors, and many supporters, it maintains and expands this collection—unique in Germany—at the Museum of Concrete Art and Design in Ingolstadt. Since its inception, the foundation has been supported by Audi ArtExperience.
The collection currently includes works by nineteen artists as well as numerous donations from private individuals. Exhibits from the collection are regularly presented in exhibitions at the MKK and other institutions and are subject to scholarly analysis.
Without the vital support of art lovers and patrons, our work would not be possible. Help us expand the Center for Concrete Art.
