Timm Ulrichs

Timm Ulrichs’ artistic oeuvre encompasses conceptual works, sculptures, environments, photographs, performances, actions, concrete poetry, wall objects, and text-based works. 

Through this practice, he developed a radical expansion of the concept of art and transcended genre boundaries. Ulrichs described himself as a “total artist,” meaning the unique fusion of art and life. Since the 1960s, he has placed his life and daily routine—as well as his own body—at the center of his art as essential components. In doing so, Ulrichs constantly plays with ambiguities, at times confronting viewers with great wit, and eludes any clear definition. Not least, Timm Ulrichs questions supposed certainties and repeatedly brings them to our attention in a manner that is both provocative and entertaining.
